The initiative, \u201cImagined Territories: Art to Build Tomorrow,\u201d is a collaboration between Phare Ponleu Selpak, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifcambodge.com\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">French Institute of Cambodia (IFC)<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afd.fr\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Agence Fran\u00e7aise de D\u00e9veloppement (AFD)<\/a>. This inspiring project offers another compelling reason to visit both Cambodia\u2019s capital and the north-western old colonial city of Battambang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From Battambang to Phnom Penh: A Journey of Artistic Innovation<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The journey began in January 2023 with a Phare Design Lab workshop in Battambang, where over 20 students from Phare\u2019s Visual &amp; Applied Arts School collaborated to create innovative art pieces. The week-long workshop resulted in seven striking artworks, showcased during a one-day festival in Battambang\u2019s city center in October 2023. Drawing more than 1,000 visitors, the festival highlighted the creative energy that makes Battambang a must-visit destination for art lovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025, the project expands its reach with an exhibition at the French Institute in Phnom Penh, titled \u201cImagined Territories: Art to Build Tomorrow.\u201d Opening on January 23, 2025, the exhibition will run until April 12, 2025, featuring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Performances by Phare Ponleu Selpak\u2019s circus students<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A concert by the Miss Sarawan band<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Interactive installations and community-inspired artworks<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Highlighting Cambodia\u2019s Challenges and Opportunities Through Art<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition brings to Phnom Penh four of the original artworks created in Battambang:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u201cBakprea\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201cGolden Soil\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201cNew Generation, New Era\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201cDrop of Life\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These pieces tackle critical development themes like natural resource management, education, and access to clean water. Created from natural and recycled materials, the works not only showcase artistic ingenuity but also engage with real-world issues affecting Cambodia\u2019s communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Celebrating Cambodia\u2019s Cultural and Sustainable Future<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Supported by the <strong>M\u00e9tis Fund<\/strong>, an AFD initiative promoting sustainable development through the arts, the project aligns with the <strong>UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>.
